Around 50 plant species belong to the genus Stock (also known as Matthiola) in the mustard family (Brassicaceae). It is one of the most important species used in the floral and horticulture sectors. While many cultivars and garden versions are red, crimson, yellow, and deep purple, the plants have narrow, oval, deep green leaves and 60–80 cm (25–30 inch) spikes of lilac to white, four-petaled blooms. Double flowers are present in some varieties.Numerous stock species are well known for the heat in their petals, and some of them are grown for cut flowers and ornamental uses.The Stock plant entices with its enticing perfume, filling the area where it blooms with a sweet and alluring aroma and creating an appealing atmosphere.Temperatures between 60 and 75 °F (15 to 24 °C) are ideal for stock plants.
