Description: Jacaranda mimosifolia is a sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America.
Size: In its native habitat, Jacaranda mimosifolia can reach 25-50 meters (80-160 feet) tall. However, in cultivation, it typically grows 10-20 meters (33-66 feet) tall.
Leaves: Bi-pinnately compound leaves, meaning they are divided twice into smaller leaflets.
Flowers: The defining feature of the Jacaranda. They are trumpet-shaped, borne in large, showy clusters that can almost completely cover the tree in spring and early summer.
Fruit: Flat, brown capsules that develop after flowering but are not a significant feature of the tree.
Uses: Widely planted as an ornamental tree due to its:
- Showy displays of blue flowers.
- Fast-growing nature (when young).
- Adaptability to warm climates.
